Why Wi-Fi 6 Matters for Dense Office and Hotel Floors
MARCH 27, 2025

A floor that worked on Wi-Fi 5 often fails in a way that looks like "the internet is down" when the internet is fine. Too many phones, laptops, and room devices share one radio. Guests retry, staff move to mobile data, and the access point is doing exactly what it was installed to do five years ago.
Wi-Fi 6 raises throughput compared with Wi-Fi 5 and adds WPA3. That is the reason to use it in a dense office or a hotel, not a version number on a brochure. The gain shows up when many devices transmit at once: meeting rooms, banquet floors, co-working levels, and guest-room corridors. It does not replace the wire. A bad uplink, an undersized switch, or a dedicated internet circuit that is already full will still limit the room.
Design still starts with the building. Separate the guest network from staff and building systems. Put access points where people stand, not only where the ceiling drawing looks even. Plan channel use so neighboring properties are not all on the same set. IDEANET supplies the access points, the switching, and the circuit, and can run the result as managed Wi-Fi.
WPA3 is the security default worth asking for on new equipment. Older clients may need a transition network. Say so in the design instead of discovering it on opening week. If the property also wants smart room, door access, or IDEA+ TV, those devices belong on the building network, not on the guest SSID.
